A Dhaka court on Sunday (July 28) cancelled the remand of Hasnatul Islam Faiyaz, 17, an eleventh-grader of Dhaka College, in a case filed with Jatrabari police station, accusing him of killing a cop during the quota protest on July 24.
Earlier on Saturday, the court placed Faiyaz on a seven-day remand. On that day, the accused claimed to be a minor, but the court granted the remand as he failed to provide proof of his age.
Meanwhile, the Dhaka CMM Court today deferred Faiyaz's remand after he submitted proof of his age (SSC and birth certificate) to support his claim of being a minor. The court then referred the case to the relevant juvenile court for a hearing and order to determine his age.
After cancellation of his remand, Faiyaz was sent to Gazipur's Tongi Child Correctional Centre.
