Deadlock continues in CU for strike

Chittagong: A serious deadlock continued at chittagong university till tuesday due to the ongoing strike call by Chhatra league, the student wing of rulling Awamee League, following serial killing.

No classes and examinations were held while administrative activities also remained halted.

Protesters set on fire a university staff bus in the morning near Sholoshahar in the city. Shuttle bus used for students` transportation also remained at a halt.

The CU unit of the Chhatra league called the strike for indefinite period Thursday protest against the latest killing of a Cu student and their activist, Md Assaduzzaman, by local terrorist.

Police said some masked miscreants set fire to the staff bus. They also beat the driver for driving in defiance of the strike.

Railway Station Manager of Chittagong Md. Samsul Alam told Banglanews "We have decided not to run the shuttle train on security ground."
 
Proctor of CU Md. Jasim Uddin Chy informed that " The campus was open on Tuesday and the situation was under control of the Varsity authorities."

Chhatra League decided to continue their strike until the authorities met their five-point demand, including resignation the Vice-Chancellor and the Proctor.

Vice Chancellor Abu Usuf said," Some miscreant were trying to create unrest on the campus and hampered the academic activities."

He dismissed any possibility of amicable settlement with the protesters.
