Tiger attack injures 12 in Sylhet

SYLHET: At least 12 people were injured in tiger’s (that lives on eating fish) attack in Osmaninagar area of the district on Saturday night.

Today locals informed to be alert about the fishing tiger through mosque mike.

Locals said that a fishing tiger attacked Amina Begum, 60, when she was working in his yard in Raiykdara Ichhamiti village. 

Hearing her screaming, relatives and neighbours came to help her, leaving Parvin Begum, 22, Rina Begum, 60, Dulal Miah, Jubair Ahmed, 8, Fajar Ali, 30, and Pedli Begum, 28, injured.

Later, the tiger went to adjacent Noagaon village and attacked villagers there also. There expatriate Nazrul Islam, 18, Hena Begum, 22, Abul Kalam, 50, and Rays Ali also injured in the attack.

The injured were rushed to the Osmani Medical College and Hospital.

The tiger is now hiding in a forest near Noapara village.

Juber Ali, Officer-in-charge of Osnanianagar Thana, confirming the incident said they were trying contact to the Forest Department to capture the tiger.
