Hannan Firoz released on bail

DHAKA: Stamford University Trustee Board President Dr MA Hannan Firoz, also Vice Chancellor of the university, was released on bail on Thursday evening in an attempt to murder case of AKM Enamul Haque Shamim, former president of Chhatra League.

Dhaka Metropolitan Session Judge M Zahurul Haque granted the bail order after hearing on the case earlier in the day.

Hannan Firoz was taken to eight days remand in two phases on July 16.

He was arrested from his Dhanmondi residence on that day.

Police said accused Rana Hawlader, in his statement, admitted the involvement of Hanna Firoz with the attempt to murder of AKM Enamul Haque.

Enamul Haque Shamim, one of the directors of Stamford University, sustained bullet injury while going to his office on June 19.

He was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital from Bangladesh Medical College Hospital.

On the next day, Shamim’s uncle Nasir Uddin filed a lawsuit with Dhanmondi Thana.
