IU declared shut for 14 days

IU (KUSHTIA): The authorities of Kushtia Islamic University (IU) decided to keep the university closed til September 7 following in a clash with police and BCL men on the campus.

The decision came from an emergency syndicate meeting on Sunday night.

Until than, all classes and examinations have been suspended till further notice, added the authorities. The academic activities of the varsity will be resumed on September 8.

The syndicate also ordered the students to check out of their dormitories within 12:00 pm Monday to avert any unwanted situation.

University Syndicate sources confirmed the matter to banglanews.

Earlier in the day, at least 20 people were injured in a clash with police and BCL men on the campus.

Of the injured, five received bullet injuries and four members of proctorial body were also attacked during in the clash.

The injured were sent to Kushtia and Jhenidah Sadar Hospitals.
