2 teachers among 6 BRUR strikers hospitalized

RANGPUR: Six people, including two teachers of Begum Rokeya University Rangpur (BRUR), were admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital on Thursday after they fell sick due to hunger strike.

Three other hunger strikers reportedly became sick following the fast-unto-death.

They strikers are lecturer of Mass Communication and Journalism Tabiur Rahman, Chemistry Department lecturer Tarikul Islam, a master's student of economics department Shahjahan, geography and environmental science department student Habibur Rahman and staff members Malek and Abdul Wahab.

However, they were observing a fast-unto-death on the campus demanding resignation of vice-chancellor Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi.

Sources said that students of the university have been observing hunger strike program on the campus since February 8 on demanding punishments of them for attacking them, the removal of vice-chancellor, solving the problems on the campus and taking examinations of the students under 2014-15 session.
