FROM KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia government has blacklisted its Victoria International College as the institution enrolled additional numbers of students in foreign quota.

This blacklisting has led the college to a ban on admitting foreign students for indefinite period.

This ban had come to an effect from May 1.

College agents told banglanews that Victoria International College had been blacklisted as it brought workers in the name of foreign students. They had admitted foreign students more than the quota.

Moreover, many Bangladeshi students have lost money as they aspired to get admitted in the college through brokers, the agents added.

Admission files of around one thousand Bangladeshi students have also been caught under tapes. Situated in Ipoh, the godown-shaped college building holds its office in the ground floor and the office for visa related work at the sixth. But it has no classroom there.

Bangladeshi students were seen sitting on the pavements outside the college gate. They are not getting their visas though the passports are submitted to the college authorities several months ago.

Investigations show that the authorities concerned are using the name of this college to bring workers in Malaysia. Earlier, the country’s education ministry made complaints against the college for several times.

However, sources said Bangladeshi students are getting top priority for the college agents. Students with fake papers can be admitted there. There are many students, who had never visited the campus.

One of the students Sagar told banglanews that many students are at risk as they got admitted at a ‘fake college’.

Bangladeshi students from 30 to 35 in number come to this collage everyday though their visa process has been completed by May, he added.

An agent of the college said that the authorities concerned make the new students as agents and offer them to get a 10 percent commission if they can bring new students.

The college allows students to get admitted without proper documents. As they need money, any person can enroll their names in the college, the agent added.

Rahul, a Bangladeshi student of Victoria International College, told banglanews that the college is not only bringing workers in the name of students, they are also deceiving the talented students.

Sources said Victoria College is being run with the money of Bangladeshi students. Students pay their hard-earned money to the college authorities as their visa renewal every year.

However, Malaysia education ministry has taken tougher action against the institution by canceling its KDN license.

Three agents, who live in Dhaka, have been identified as Sajeeb of Lalmatia and Faisa and Parvez of Malibagh.
