Asia Foundation Bangladesh donates 4040 books

DHAKA: The Asia Foundation Bangladesh organized a book donation event on Wednesday at Government Auditorium, Panchagarh, to donate approximately 4040 books.

The books, worth Tk 22-lakh, were distributed to 20 local schools, including eight girls’ schools with the view to promote the role of books for developing reading habits and literacy among students and school teachers of Panchagarh district.

Kazi Shahid Foundation (KSF) extended their friendly support to organize this event in Panchagarh.

This book donation event will be a union of young readers, students, and teachers and The Asia Foundation Bangladesh where the role of books to build the future of Bangladesh has been emphasized.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Panchagarh Mahmudul Alam attended the event as the Chief Guest.

Deputy Country Representative of the Asia Foundation Bangladesh Sara Taylor, and KSF CEO Momtaz Faruki Chowdhury, Deputy Collector of Nejarat Bikash Biswas, Zila Madhomik Shikkha Officer Jibdan Barman attend as special guests in the event.
   
The guests spoke about promoting book reading habit among the students and teachers and also encouraged to enhance girls’ education through their speech.
 
To promote reading habit among the children The Asia Foundation will donate local language books along with English books.

Books for Asia donates more than 50,000 new books annually to approximately 500 institutions in all seven divisions, including all types of academic institutions, libraries and nonprofit and government offices with library facility.
