CHITTAGONG: The headmasters of primary schools have warned to boycott imminent Primary School Certificate (PSC) examinations over five-point demand, including their inclusion in the 10th grade of the national pay scale as per class-2 status.

They also called for an indefinite work abstention from October 6 in this regard.

The programs were announced from a press conference at Chittagong Press Club in the port city on Monday.

Convener of Government Primary School Headmasters’ Association, Chittagong unit, Kaisarul Alam read out a written speech at the conference.

The five-point demand include: publishing gazette in the name of each and every headmaster after including them in the 10th grade of national pay scale as per class-2 status; declaring headmasters as self drawing officers and issuance of directions from finance ministry to fix salary in corresponding scale of those headmasters who have received 1st, 2nd and 3rd Time Scale; to effect the system of promotions from assistant teacher to director general through qualifications and departmental exams; to ensure headmasters’ representation during taking policy decisions related to primary education and reinstating the Selection Grade and Time Scale in the 8th Pay Scale.

Kaisarul Alam said the headmasters will leave their chairs from October 1 to 10 and will observe work abstention from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm from October 3 to 5 if the demands are not met.

Besides, they will go for indefinite work abstention from October 6, he added.
