74.70pc pass in HSC, 58276 get GPA 5

DHAKA: The results of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations have been published on Thursday (August 18) with an overall pass percentage of 74.70, a total of 5.10 percent higher than previous year.

Besides, this year’s results witnessed 58,276 students achieving GPA-5 score, the highest grade.

In 2015, the number of GPA-5 scorers was 42,894 students with 69.60 pass percent.

Among the country’s 10 education boards, Madrasa Board topped the list in pass percentage, showing 88.19 percent success followed by 84.57 percent students in the Technical Education Board.

As many as 2,414 students from Madarasa Board achieved GPA-5 while 6,587 students of Technical Education Board got GPA-5.

This year, 64.49 percent students from Comilla Board, 73.53 percent from Dhaka Board, 98.59 percent from Sylhet Board, 64.60 percent from Chittagong Board, 70.64 percent from Dinajpur Board, 75.40 percent from Rajshahi Board, 83.42 percent from Jessore and 70.13 percent students from Barisal Board have passed.

Meanwhile, 1,330 students from Sylhet; 1,912 from Comilla; 6,073 from Rajshahi; 2,253 from Chittagong; 3,899 from Dinajpur; 787 students from Barisal; and 28,110 students from Dhaka got GPA-5.

Out of 1,020,109 students participated in HSC examinations under the eight general education boards, 899,150 passed this year.

Earlier in the day, the education minister Nurul Islam Nahid along with board chairmen handed over the results’ copy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban around 10.00am.

Later around 1:00pm, he will brief the results at a press briefing at his secretariat office in city.

However, students will get the results from their respective institutions and through mobile SMS and internet from 2:00pm onwards.

Students may visit the official website of education board (www.educationboardresults.gov.bd) and their respective board websites for the results.
