DHAKA: Russian ambassador to Bangladesh Alexander Ignatov, accompanied by embassy attaché Anastasia Nemova, called on Dhaka University (DU) vice-chancellor Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique on Tuesday (August 23) at the latter’s office.

They discussed about ongoing joint collaborative academic and research programs between Dhaka University and several universities in Russia.

Such type of collaboration especially with Nuclear Engineering Department of Dhaka University would be enhanced, the Russian ambassador said.

They also exchanged views regarding how to strengthen the existing friendly ties between Bangladesh and Russia, said a press release.

Russian ambassador informed DU VC that they would give 500 rare books on various subjects including literature, culture, history and science to DU soon.

The vice-chancellor thanked the guests for their visit to Dhaka University and their interest in DU academic and research activities.
