DHAKA: The authorities of Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have closed the institution till November 18 following an infighting of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of ruling Awami League, on the campus.

The decision was taken in a syndicate meeting of the varsity on Friday morning (November 11).

RUET vice-chancellor (VC) Mohammad Rafiqul Islam presided over the meeting.

Mohammad Rafiqul Islam told Banglanews that they have asked students to leave the residential halls by 3:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the RUET authorities have deployed an additional number of law enforcers to thwart any untoward situation.
