PEC, equivalent exams begin

DHAKA: Primary Education Completion (PEC) and equivalent examinations for Class-V have begun on Sunday (November 20).

The examinations will continue till November 27.

A total of 3,230,288 examinees has sit for the examinations this year. Of them, 2,930,573 are sitting for PEC and 299,715 for Ebtedayee examinations.

The number of female examinees (1,584,541) is more than the number of male examinees (1,346,032) in the examinations.

The examinations are being held in 7,194 centers, including 11 overseas centers.

PEC examination system was introduced in 2009 while Ebtedayee examination system in 2010 with the view to improve the quality of education in the country.

The tests start at 11:00 am and end at 1:30 pm. Specially-abled examinees are getting extra 20 minutes for answering, like past years.
