English language a must in English class: DSHE

DHAKA: With a view to raise patriotism and the practice of moral values for students, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE) directed the institution heads with a cluster of specific instructions.

DSHE came up with the move, stirred by the recent horrific reports of Blue Whale game addiction among the adolescents.

DSHE Director General Dr SM Wahiduzzaman signed the set of eight instructions that includes taking the class of English subject in English language, telling the stories of Bangladesh’s Liberation War and independence and emphasizing over reading the books on Liberation War.

It was said in the letter that each of the students should be raised as the human being with patriotism and moral values. They are the appliance to construct the future of modern-digital Bangladesh.

Besides, the institution heads should take necessary initiatives for raising the quality of education.

Following are some of the guidelines:

English class should be taken in English.

The teachers should use multimedia technology while taking classes.

Training for the in-house-faculty should be initiated.

The campuses should be kept green.

National sanctity strategy should be practiced.

The institution heads have been asked to implement the instructions.

However, enquiry teams will take into account implementation of the directions while visiting the institutions, said the DSHE order.

Directors and Deputy Directors of all the Secondary and Higher Education zones, govt and non govt school-colleges, head teachers of the schools and upazila secondary education officers were asked to execute the instructions.
