DHAKA UNIVERSITY: A procession was brought out on Saturday (December 9) at Dhaka University (DU), marking Rokeya Day, the 137th birth and 85th death anniversary of the pioneer of women rights.

The rally launched from Rokeya Hall and ended before the hall again, after rounding Aparajeyo Bangla. 

Arranged by the Rokeya Hall residents, the rally was attended by large number of students. 

DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman led the rally.

Rokeya Hall Provost Prof Dr Zinat Huda and DU Proctor Prof Dr AKM Golam Rabbani were present.

Citing Begum Rokeya’s role for women emancipation, VC Akhtaruzzman said that she will always be remembered as an inspirational name for women’s progress and betterment. He asked the DU girls to follow the footsteps of Begum Rokeya.
