DHAKA: Prime minister Sheikh Hasina said Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College will get five new buses for students’ transportation and an underpass will be constructed in front of it for crossing the adjacent Airport road. 

Moreover, speed breakers will be constructed on the roads while placard carrying special traffic police will be appointed in front of all schools of the country, the premier added. 

Earlier on Thursday (August 2), the family members of two Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College students, who were killed by a bus on Airport road, met with the Prime Minister at her office.    

It was an emotional meting where the PM listened closely and comforted the bereaved families of the road crash victims, said PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim after the meeting. 

Some immediate steps have been taken based on the demands of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College principle and victim’s family members. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has donated Tk 20 lakh as deposits to the families, he added. 

Home Minister Asaduzzaman khan Kamal, PM’s principle secretary, Education secretary, PMO secretary and PM’s press secretary were also present at the meeting. 

Earlier on July 29, 2 students- Abdul Karim, 16 and Diya, 15- of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed as the speedy bus hit them on Airport Road of the capital city. The incident triggered mass protest among students and they have been continuing the demonstration in demand of safe roads.
