JAHANGIRNAGAR UNIVERSITY: Staff of Jahangirnagar University (JU) have demanded punishment of the varsity’s chief security officer over assaulting a 4th grade fellow staff.

They took position in front of JU Vice Chancellor (VC) Dr Farzana Islam’s residence and submitted a memorandum around 2am Wednesday (Jan 23).  

JU Acting Registrar Rahima Kaneez received the memorandum. 

As per the memorandum note, JU chief security officer Sudipto Shahin intentionally shed light of his bike on 4th grade staff union president Sharif, around 10:30pm.

Shahin was drunk and riding the bike speedily.

As Sharif asked about his whimsical act, Shahin verbally assaulted him.

Afterwards, Shahin along with others of the security section beat up Sharif, his brother Arif and another staff Jamal.

Shain also snatched two mobile phones and Tk 35,000, Sharif claimed.

Contacted, Shahin denied the allegation of beating up them.

Registrar Rahima Kaniz said step will be taken following investigation into the matter.
