DHAKA: The government has approved the draft of 'International Mother Language Institute Medal Policy, 2019’.

The draft of the law has been approved in the regular meeting of the Cabinet, with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair, held at the Prime Minister's Office in Tejgaon on Monday (June 24). 

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam briefed the reporters at secretariat.

He said the International Mother Language Padak will be given every two years. Two medals for national affairs and two for the international arena will be given. National award will be worth Tk 4 lakh and for international level, it will be $ 5,000.

The cabinet secretary said that this award will be given for spread, reviving, promoting, practicing, publicizing and spreading of mother language of the world.

A selection committee headed by the director of the International Mother Language Institute will be there. The Education Minister will be head of the nomination committee. 

This award will be given ahead of the Ekushey February.
