19 public varsities to hold cluster-based admission test this year

A cluster-based admission test for 2020-2021 academic year will take place at 19 general, science and technology universities of the country this year.

The examinations will be held on three subjects – humanities, business and science.

The decision was made in a view-exchange meeting attended by vice-chancellors of the concerned universities on Tuesday.

The tests will take place in person. Question papers will be prepared based on the syllabus of higher secondary.

On February 26, University Grants Commission (UGC) made a decision in principle to conduct admission tests in public universities in three clusters.

Joining today's meeting virtually, UGC Chairman Dr. Kazi Shahidullah said universities will have to hold the admission tests in cluster method due ongoing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Dr Mijanur Rahman said the central admission test committee, comprised of the vice-chancellors of the universities, will determine the method of the test and also evaluate students with scores.

The 19 universities are-- Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Islamic University, Khulna University, Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Noakhali Science and Technology University, Jagannath University, Comilla University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Jessore University of Science and  Technology, Pabna University of Science and Technology, Begum Rokeya University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University, University of Barishal, Rangamati Science and Technology University, Rabindra University, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Digital University, Sheikh Hasina University and Bangamata Sheikh Fojilatunnesa Mujib Science and Technology University.
