The government has extended closure of all primary schools and kindergartens till May 22 in a bid to protect students from the coronavirus infection.

Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, in a statement this afternoon, also said that the students should stay at home during the closure for ensuring safety from Covid-19.

Earlier on March 25, education ministry declared that in-person classes at secondary schools and colleges across the country would resume on May 23 after Eid-ul-Fitr.

On February 27, the government had announced that all schools and colleges would reopen on March 30.

The government shut schools and educational institutions on March 17 last year after the country confirmed its first Covid-19 cases on March 8. The closure was extended several times.
