‘Titanic’ voted Hollywood’s biggest tearjerker

DHAKA: James Cameron’s record-breaking blockbuster ‘Titanic’ has been voted the biggest tearjerker of all time.

The 1997 disaster movie, which stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio as unlikely lovers on the doomed liner, came top in a British poll of the most heartbreaking movies, with 24 percent of the vote, beating ‘Les Miserables’ into second place.

Third in the survey for consumer website FreeDeliveryLand.co.uk was animated Disney classic ‘Bambi’, with 2011’s ‘War Horse’ in fourth place. Steven Spielberg’s alien film ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ rounded out the top five.

A spokesman for the website says, ‘Though not everyone would admit it, we’ve all cried at a film at one point in our life. Titanic has the perfect combination of factors to make it the nation’s favourite tearjerker. It has the epic plot, the doomed lovers and extremely moving music’, reports contactmusic.com.
