DHAKA: Action thriller ‘Dhoom 3’ starring Aamir Khan opened the way many had expected collecting more than Rs350 million on its opening day.

‘Dhoom 3’, that was made at an approximate budget of Rs1 billion, has collected Rs362.2 million — Rs334.2 million in Hindi and Rs28 million in Tamil and Telugu, said a statement, reports gulfnews.com.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Saturday, ‘Dhoom 3 emerges the biggest non-holiday opener ever’.

Also featuring Abhishek Bachchan, Uday Chopra and Katrina Kaif, the movie, with complicated stunts, released in about 4,000 screens in India.

‘It is an extraordinary movie. Big names like Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif are part of this Yash Raj film. It was also hyped by Bollywood fraternity. We got Rs35 million worth pre-booking. On day one, there was over 90 per cent occupancy,’ Gautam Dutta, of PVR Cinemas, said.

In the film, Bachchan and Chopra return as Jai Dixit and Ali. Khan plays a villain and gymnast in the film while Katrina portrays an acrobat diva.
