DHAKA: Like previous years, traditional ‘Hatekhari’ festival for children will be celebrated at the premises of Liberation War Museum in city’s Segun Bagicha area on Friday.

‘Hatekhari Jatiya Parshad’, a national committee for Hatekhari festival, will organize the program at 10:00am on the day.

However, the festival has been being celebrated in this part of the globe for centuries for the children in celebrating the formal beginning of their education.

Eminent litterateur Syed Shamsul Haq, theatre personality Ferdousi Majumdar and artist Rafiqun Nabi will teach the children about writing at the even, to be chaired by the celebration committee president Kamal Lohani.

Besides, a cultural program featuring recitation, music and dance by the children will also be arranged as part of the celebration.

Moreover, cultural organizations including Gitimaya, Kendriya Khelaghar Asar, Nataraj and Archana will participant at the event.

The organizers will distribute ‘Adarsha Lipi’, a widely read book of Bangla alphabets by Sitanath Basak, as awards to the participating children.
