DHAKA: Fifteen eminent personalities, including renowned folksinger Abdur Rahman Boyati, have been nominated for the Ekushey Padak-2015.

They have been selected for their outstanding contributions to the country, said cultural affairs ministry sources on Sunday evening.

The other recipients of the award include Piaru Sarder (posthumous) for language movement; Professor M Mojibur Rahman in liberation war; Dwijen Sharma and M Nurul Huda for literature; Abul Hayat and ATM Shamsuzzaman for arts; Dr MA Mannan and Sanat Kumar Saha in education; Abul Kalam Mohammad Zakaria in research; Kamal Lohani in journalism; Faridur Reza Sagor in mass media; Jharnadhara Chowdhury, Satyapria Mohathero and Professor Dr Arup Ratan Chowdhury in social service.

However, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, later, will formally hand over the Ekushey Padak to the awardees, the sources added.
