Chaurasia’s flute enthralls audience

DHAKA: With the melodies of flute by Pundit Hariprasad Chaurasia, the curtain of five-day Bengal Classical Music festival dropped on Wednesday early morning.

The last day of this popular classical music festival was graced with the presence of Bangladeshi celebrities from the cultural arena. Many popular artistes from television to film came to enjoy the melody created by the maestro.

The Pundit’s flute amused the audience with his magical tune until morning and enthralled them with his art of presentation.

Culture affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor handed over the festival souvenir to the Pundit. Other than that, BNP leader Barrister Moudud Ahmed handed over the festival souvenir to Sujat Khan.

The last day of the festival was overwhelmingly crowded by the music loving people. As a result, the roads from MES to Banani were virtually closed by the parked vehicles on the both sides of the road.

Bengal Foundation chairman Abul Khayer handed over the festival souvenirs as the host of organizing body as a token of memory to the attending artistes.

In the venue of Banani Army Stadium, the final day’s performances started on Tuesday (1st December) at 7:00pm.

Animesh Bijay Chowdhury and his troupe inaugurated the day’s program with their performance.

Cultural group Geetabitan Bangladesh from Sylhet presented their musical performances of ‘Dhamar’ on raga Desh and ‘Chaturanga’ on raga ‘Bhupali’.

Animesh Bijay Chowdhury was accompanied by Kumkum Bhoumik, Noor-e-Afroz, Paresh Chandra Paul, Ruma Chanda, Shagufta Haque, Subrata Mitra and Sonia Ray.

Moreover, Alamgir Parvej was on pakhowaj and Avijit Kundu on tanpura. It was supervised by Professor Dr Ashit Ray.

This year’s festival was dedicated to renowned painter late Qayyum Chowdhury.

About two hundreds of musicians and dance artistes attended this festival of classical music.
