Ignorance has its own bliss.
The more you keep your
mind shut off to knowledge,
the better. It is one of the
most dangerous affairs of
earthly life to seek
knowledge. Perhaps, for
this, Shakespeare once
said, "Fools rush in where angels fear to tread".
To think logically is to deny
one's passions-sensitive, docile or dark.
Ability to see things under
the light of reason is sure to draw
heavy toll upon your body and mind.
I can recall TS Eliot saying "I should have been a pair
of ragged claws/Scuttling across the floors of sea".
Knowledge is like the Sun that dispels darkness,
dries up humidity and sogginess (of mind).
But then, creatures like centipedes,
leeches, tarantulas or
blue scorpions (of thought) belong to
a world of darkness-sunlight
brings for them disgust, discomfort
and desperation. Even in broad daylight
they prefer to remain hidden,
concealed and holed-up and ready to prey
on creatures which love to kiss daylight.
So, knowledge shouldn't be pursued at the cost of life.
Therefore, everyday I thank myself
for my continued efforts to remain ignorant and curse
this soul when it dies to know the unknown...
to learn the new.... to unveil the never-seen-before.
I keep mumbling the words of Mark Twaine
''Truth is stranger than fiction ".
Whether or not I admit, facts are
but facts and they will always remain so.
I must confess, I may not dare
to stand the luminosity (of course, like a centipede),
knowledge must continue
to spew out light to whip off ignorance of other dark minds.
I prefer to be a flickering vesper-lamp
on a stormy twilight ready to be doused
with a smack of wind or by the splash of a rain-drop!
