DHAKA: The weeklong International Children's Film Festival will begin from Saturday (January 23) aimed at inspiring young generations to enter the industry and become leaders of change.

There will be four screenings each day (11 am, 2 pm, 4 pm and 6 pm) except the inaugural day.

Festival Director Rayeed Morshed informed the matter at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) auditorium on Thursday (January 21).

Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith will inaugurate the main festival at Shawkat Osman auditorium of Central Public Library in Dhaka on January 23, Rayeed said.

In the 7-day festival, more than 150 films on children from 30 countries will be screened at 15 venues in Dhaka, Rajshahi and Sylhet simultaneously.

All screenings will also remain open for guardians of child viewers.

Rayeed Morshed further said, ‘The main attraction of this year’s festival will be film competition directed by Bangladeshi children. A total of 80 films have been submitted in the section’.
 
The 9th round of the international event, to be arranged by Children’s Film Society Bangladesh (CFS), will come to an end on January 29.

The organization has successfully organized seven International Children’s Film Festivals since 2008.

Pran RFL will be the key sponsor of the weeklong festival.

Two episode seminars titling ‘Torture on Children’ will be held at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of National Museum in Dhaka on January 26.

Besides, directed by Amitav Reza, filmmaking workshops suitable for children and young adults will be held on January 27.
