Dhallywood film director PA Kajol passes away

Noted Dhallywood filmmaker PA Kajol died at a city hospital early hours of Thursday (May 25).

He was suffering from liver cirrhosis for a prolonged period.

Family sources said that Kajol breathed his last at ZH Shikder Women’s Medical College Hospital in Rayer Bazar area of Dhaka, at around 12:20 am.

Earlier, he was taken to India for higher medical treatment. 

PA Kajol stepped into the filmdom as an assistant of veteran filmmaker Chashi Nazrul Islam.

His debut movie was ‘Shabbash Bangali’.

Some of his celebrated films were ‘Ek Takar Bou’, ‘Amar Praner Swami’, Swami-Stri’r Wada’, ‘Piriter Agun Jwale Dwigun’, ‘Mukti’ ‘Gono Dushmon’, ‘Vondo Ojha’, ‘Valobasa Ajkal’, ‘Chokher Dekha’ etc.

Death of the ingenious film director brought immense shock among the cine-lovers and in cultural quarters of the country.

Kajol was honored with the national film award for his shortfilm ‘Godhuli’ in 1991.

In educational life, he earned Master’s degree in Political Science from University of Dhaka (DU).

However, in his lifetime, Kajol delivered a high number of commercial big hits.
