DHAKA: Disregarding the disturbances caused by the drizzling on the moist Agrahayan morning of Thursday (November 16), the seventh edition of Dhaka Lit Fest (DLF) was launched at the Bangla Academy premises.

In the beginning, Manipuri Theatre performed a dance with a vow to welcome the visitors with rhythmic efflux.

Sadaf Saaz, one of the directors of DLF, came to the stage as the dancing feet muzzles.

“The 3-day Dhaka Lit Fest belongs to the thoughts and freedom of the connoisseurs, and moreover it is an occasion to celebrate the freedom. This festival is a place to spread our thoughts worldwide and also to be enriched with the newer thoughts from outside. This arrangement will remind us about the power of words and beauty”, said Saaz.

The inaugural program was arranged at the Abdul Karim Sahitya Bisharad Auditorium.

Another DLF director Kazi Anis said that the festival is more to celebrate the Bangla language, than to the literature connoisseurs.

“Some exuberance will happen to Bangla language when it will get spread across the world”, he said.

Arabian Poet Adonais, one of the main discussants in DLF 2017, welcomed everyone thronged to the festival.

DLF Directors Ahsan Akbar and Sadaf Saaz, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s grandson Radwan Mujib Siddiq Bobby, and Bangla Academy DG Shamsuzzaman Khan were present at the ceremony, among others.

Hailing the festival a prove of the youth spirit, Shamsuzzaman Khan hopes the festival will find place in everyone’s heart.

He also spoke upon the history of Bangla language, Bangali people and culture, the Liberation War of 1971 and Ekushey Book Fair.

However, 75 literatures from 24 countries are attending the sessions of the three-day literature festival (November 16, 17, 18).
