No local Ad in foreign TV channels from April 1

DAHKA: The government has issued restriction on broadcasting local advertisements in foreign television channels, which will be effective from April 1.

Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud made the announcement while addressing a discussion titled ‘Private TV Channels in Crisis’ at Shilpakala Academy in the city. 

Broadcast Journalists Centre arranged the programme on Saturday (March 30) noon. 

 The minister said the government is in strict position to stop broadcasting local advertisements in foreign channels. We gave notice to authorities concerned several times and another notice will be given on Sunday (31 March).

If anyone is broadcasting local advertisements in foreign channels after April 1, legal action will be taken against those, he added.

With Rezwanul Huq Raza, convener of the organization, in the chair, the programme was also spoke by DBC chairman Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Channel 24 MD AK Azad, Gazi TV chief editor Syed Istian Reza.
