Gronthee launches FB live series with poets around the world

The Gronthee, an award winning Bengali literary platform in UK, has launched a Facebook Live series tilted, “Hundred Poets Around The World” in a bid to spread the message of love and humanity all over the world through poetry.

The first part of the series was organized on Saturday (June 27) on the Facebook page of Gronthee.

Eminent poets Jahar Sen Majumder (India), Jewel Mazhar (Bangladesh), Shamim Reza (Bangladesh), Sharena Lee Satti (UK) and Juan José Rodinás  (Ecuador) read their own poems apart from discussion in the live session.

Poet TM Ahmed Kaiser moderated the event organized in association with RadhaRaman Society, a community art organization.

Editor of Gronthee poet Shamim Shahan delivered the welcome speech in the live programme.

Shamim Shahan said, “The Gronthee has been working tirelessly for flourishing Bengali literature, poetry and sociology for more than three decades. Although the journey of the platform started from Bangladesh in the 90's, today it has reached all over the world. I extend my best wishes to all those who are working for the platform.”

Sharena Lee Satti said poetry was her love, that’s why she chose poetry as a medium to build bridges with life, people and nature. She recited her poems 'With You' and 'Let's Live'.

Poet and journalist Jewel Mazhar said, “Love is a force that unites people. Love helps conquer and create. In this global pandemic, we can win the battle against this unknown enemy with the power of our love.” He read his poems Darjighare Ekrat (A Night at the Tailoring Shop) and “Rubicon”.

Defining love, poet Jahar Sen Majumder said, "Since childhood, I have wanted to see the birthplace of the word - love, and at one stage it I think that love probably sprouted from a silent wound between instinct and cessation." He recited his 'Uro Pakhi', 'Bhanga Chand' and 'Megh' poems.

Shaheen Mituli also part in the event as associate moderator.

The second part of the Facebook live session “Hundred Poets Around The World” is scheduled to be held at 4pm (UK Time) on Saturday (July 4).
