The head of the BBC will be questioned today over allegations that one of its top presenters paid a teenager £35,000 for sexually explicit images.
Director-general Tim Davie is due to be quizzed when he faces the media for a scheduled briefing this afternoon.
A male member of staff was suspended after claims he paid the youngster sums of money over a three-year period.
MPs have reportedly threatened to use parliamentary privilege to put an end to the speculation by identifying the BBC star in the Commons.
The BBC were branded ‘liars’ by the parents of the person, who claim they first raised concerns seven weeks ago.
The unnamed presenter is accused of appearing in his underwear in a video call with the person, who was 17 when the alleged arrangement started and is now 20.
He then made ‘panicked’ phone calls to the teen to try to get their mum ‘stop the investigation’, according to The Sun.
‘What have you done?’, the presenter reportedly said on one of the phone calls.
A letter from a lawyer representing the young person said there had been no inappropriate behaviour and called The Sun’s story ‘rubbish’.
