The Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted a big attempt of smuggling of gold along the India-Bangladesh border areas in the state of West Bengal.

According to an official of the BSF, the alert troops of Border Post Ranghat, 68 Battalion under South Bengal Frontier, based on concrete information, caught the smuggler with 50 gold biscuits and 16 gold bars.
The weight of the seized gold was found to be around 23 kg. Further legal action in the matter is being taken.

The official said, “On the evening of September 18th, at around 6.50 pm, the troops of Border Outpost Ranghat received concrete information that a huge smuggling of gold is going to happen through van turn located in their area.”
