Taliban claims siege on US aid group in Afghanistan

KUNDUZ: The Taliban claimed responsibility for a suicide and gun attack on a US aid organisation in northern Afghanistan on Friday that left at least three people dead, including a German national.

"This morning six Taliban suicide bombers attacked the United States development organisation branch," Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AFP by telephone from an undisclosed location.

"According to our information there were a total of 52 foreigners in the building apart from the guards and policemen around," he said.

The siege on the office of the US aid contractor Developments Alternatives Inc (DAI) in the northern city of Kunduz left at least one foreigner, a German security guard, dead, an official at the US embassy in Kabul said.
