Almost 160 Palestinians were killed and 195 injured by Israeli attacks between Monday and Wednesday, as heavy fighting between Israeli forces and Palestinian fighters continues in northern Gaza City and in the south’s Khan Younis city.
UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) confirmed the reports.
Among the deadliest attacks recently carried out by Israel was the killing of 22 people, including at least six children and eight women, when a house was bombed in Deir el-Balah on Sunday. Four women and a boy were among seven people killed in eastern Rafah on the same day.
On Monday, five people were killed when a residential building near al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City was attacked, and on Tuesday, at least nine children and five women were among 18 people killed when a house was bombed in northern Rafah.
The latest UNOCHA report also warns that Gaza’s health system is “collapsing” and “famine is ever closer to becoming a reality in northern Gaza”, according to the World Health Organization.
