DHAKA: An 11-year-old was allegedly gang-raped by five teenagers high on sniffing glue in India’s Guwahati town of Assam province.

The police have detained the five suspects, whose parents claimed their children ‘are less than 16 years old’, reports Hindustan Times.

The five allegedly lured the girl to play with them on Saturday evening and sexually assaulted her in a newly constructed building.

‘The boys claimed to be teenagers. Their bone-marrow test is being conducted. After the test, we will come to know about their true age,’ said city senior superintendent of police (SSP) AP Tiwari.

The sexual assault on the minor by minors has shocked residents in Assam’s largest city.

The suspects were picked up late on Sunday after the girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Baistha police station in Chandan Nagar locality of the city.

‘The minor’s mother is illiterate and poor,’ said a police official who did not want to be named.

‘The suspects have admitted they were sniffing an intoxicative glue before the crime.’
