Extreme dip dye hair is a brief affair

Women are looking to try the dramatic looks of the season with a simple dip dye, where bright colour is only applied at the ends of the hair and a semi-permanent dye is used.

This is great for women who want to try the trend but only for a few weeks at a time - however, preparation is important and can take time, as most hair tones will need a bleach or toner first so that the ends of your hair will 'grip' the bright shades better. Purple and darker colours give both a quirky yet sophisticated feel to black hair, whilst the lightest dip dye hues should be left to blondes and light browns if you want to avoid too much damage. If your hair is very long and needs a cut, then try out this trend before - once you're ready, you can cut off the ends and have your natural hair colour back again.

Caring for your colour

Unfortunately, dramatic tones can play havoc with your hair's condition, so it's more important than ever to keep your hair looking healthy to avoid breakage and ensure your colour lasts as long as possible. Invest in an effective conditioning mask and don't limit your use of this product to once a week - use the treatment whenever your hair starts to feel dry to avoid split ends. Make sure you visit your hairdresser immediately after embracing dramatic colour to chop off your hair's dry ends to ensure that your locks looks fresh and healthy for longer. And most importantly, use a colour correcting shampoo each week to ensure the tone of your hair doesn't change - a blue or purple shampoo is good, and many salon brands will provide shampoos specifically for peach hair or other dramatic tones to help the colour becoming brassy or fading early.
