Police rescued a newborn baby from the Narail district last night after 23 days of stealing from Khulna Medical College Hospital.
The baby was handed over to his mother Ranima Begum today. Turab Ali, husband of Ranima, relatives, and officials of Khulna Metropolitan Police, among others, were present.
Momtazul Haque, officer-in-charge of Sonadanga Model Police Station confirmed the matter to the media.
He said the police team acting on tip-off went on an operation to the residence of a couple identified as Ranu Khanam and Lalon Molla at village Parbisnupur under Kalia upazila in Narail last evening.
Later, police members rescued the 23-day-old baby from their possession and arrested the couple, he said.
On January 24, Ranima Begum, a residence of Fakirhat upazila under Bagerhat gave birth to a baby boy at noon.
