Students of Jahangirnagar University (JU) today (March 31) blocked the Dhaka-Aricha Highway, protesting the arrest of Prothom Alo reporter Samsuzzaman Shams in a case filed under the Digital Security Act.

According to information, students around 3:00pm started the protest from the university's main gate. Later, the students marched towards Dhaka-Aricha highway and started demonstrating there.

Members of law enforcement agency had taken position at the area.

Earlier, police arrested Shams from Savar on the outskirts of the capital early on Wednesday following a news report published in the daily that allegedly tarnished the image of the government.
