World Cup Cricket security planning Sunday

DHAKA: A coordination meeting on overall security of the upcoming ICC World Cup cricket-2011 will be held in the conference room of the Home Ministry Sunday, as preparation gets underway for hosting the extravaganza.

Home Minister Sahara Khatun will chair the meeting to discuss overall security measures for the cricket carnival, to be staged in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka from February 17 next year.

The opening ceremony of the ICC World Cup Cricket Tournament will be held at Bangabandhu National Stadium on February 17. A total of seven matches will be held in the two national stadiums in Dhaka and Chittagong Stadium.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Ahad Ali Sarker, Bangladesh Cricket Board President AHM Mostafa Kamal, the Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, the Inspector General of Police, the DGs of RAB, Fire Service and Civil Defense, BDR, DGFI, NSI, Ansar and VDP, Immigration and Passport Department and the CEO of Bangladesh Cricket Board will attend the meeting.

Besides, representatives from the Prime Minister’s Office, ministries of Foreign Affairs, Youth and Sports, Health and Family Welfare, Civil Aviation and Tourism, Communications, Finance Department and Local Government Department will also be present.
