THAKURGAON: At least 25 people, including a police officer and journalists, were injured in a fierce clash between Awami League and BNP in the district town on Tuesday noon.

The injured are Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Firoz Khan; district Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubur Rahman Khokan.

Witnesses said Juba League men brought out a procession against hartal around 12:30pm in the town. At the same time, BNP men also brought out a procession supporting hartal. At one stage, both group locked into clash, leaving 25 people injured including police and journalists.

Police opened fire teargas shells and rubber bullets to bring the situation under control.

Confirming the matter district Police Super Faisal Mahmud told banglanews: “The situation is now under control.”
