250 BNP men sued in Chandpur

CHANDPUR: The members of law enforcement agency filed a lawsuit against 250 leaders and activists of the opposition BNP with Hajiganj Thana of the district on Friday morning.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Anwar Hossain of the Thana filed the lawsuit with the thana naming 17 accused among the 250.

Officer-in-Charge of Hajiganj Thana Dewan Abul Hossain told banglanews BNP leaders and activists attacked police and obstructed discharging duties during clash with local Awami League leaders and activists in Hajiganj Bazar on Thursday afternoon.

Police filed the case as they also vandalized a bank during the incident.

In response to a question of why any case was not filed against the Awami League supporters, he said, Awami League leaders and activists did not attack police.

On Thursday afternoon, local Awami League and BNP supporters locked into a clash while trying to hold a rally in Hajiganj Bazar intersection area, leaving 25 persons, including police and journalists injured.

Police fired rubber bullets and lobber tear shells to take the situation under control.
