BNP-cops clash injures 30 in Tangail

TANGAIL: At least 30 people were injured during a clash between BNP activists and police personnel at Nirala crossing area in the district town on Friday afternoon.

Witnesses said that the sporadic clash triggered when BNP activists brought out a procession after 18-party rally at municipality Uddyan and threw brick-bat at law enforcers from the demo.

Police fired more than hundreds rounds of rubber bullets and 20 tear gas shells to take the situation under control, leaving 30 peoples including six law enforcers injured.  

District BNP general secretary Shamsul Alam Tofa told banglanews that vice president Advocate Arfan Ali Molla, Zuba Dal general secretary Ashraf Paheli, Shamik Dal general secretary Monirul Haque and another 25 were injured during the clash and 10 got bullet injuries.

Tangail Sadar Thana Officer-in-Charge Nazrul Islam confirmed the matter to banglanews.

“Six police personnel were injured during the clash and the situation is under control now,” he added.
