DHAKA: Law, Justice and Parliamentary Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam on Saturday said the main objective of the polls-time cabinet to assist Election Commission (EC) for holding free and fair elections.

The minister came up with the assertion at a meeting of Dhaka city Awami League in party central office at City’s Bangabandhu Avenue.

He said: “We will try our best to create a level playing field following the code of conduct for polls-time cabinet as the countrymen are prepared to oversee election.”

Quamrul also urged opposition to come forward in the path of polls instead of upheavals throughout the country.

In the meeting, Dhaka city Awami League general secretary Mofazzal Hossain Choudhwry Maya criticized BNP for their threats to paralyze the country if election commission declares schedule of the 10th general election without forming neutral government.
