Jamaat leader shot dead in Jessore

JESSORE: A local leader of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami was shot to death near police outpost of the district town on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Bulbul Ahmed, 35, secretary of Upashahar Union of the district.

Local sources said miscreants shot Bulbul while he was waiting in front of his house at Upashahar Police Outpost, leaving him injured critically.

Later, local people recovered him and rushed to Jessore Medical College Hospital (JMCH) where on duty doctor declared him dead.

Assistant police super (Sadar) of Jessore Reshma Sharmin told banglanews that miscreants shot Bulbul to death.

Activist of district Jamaat office Bayezid said Bulbul was the secretary of Upashahar Union Parishad.

Protesting the incident, district Jamaat brought out an instant procession and called dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district for Thursday.

District Jamaat Secretary Master Nurunnabi confirmed the matter to banglanews.
