Rajshahi cops-blockaders clash injures 20

RAJSHAHI: At least 20 people including a cop were injured in a clash between picketers and law enforcers in the by-pass road area near Court Station of the city on Monday morning.

Besides, blockaders torched a police van during the clash, banglanews correspondent reports.

Witnesses said the clash ensued when the law enforcers barricaded a procession brought out by the 18-party leaders and activists in the area.

The angry picketers threw brick chips to the police, blasted cocktails and torched a police van, they added.

Police fired more than hundred rounds of rubber bullets, sound grenades and from their shot guns to bring the situation under control, leaving 20 people injured including a police man.

The injured police constable was rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Confirming the matter, Rajpara Thana Officer-in-Charge ABM Rezaul Karim told banglanews that additional law enforcers were deployed in the area to avoid further untoward situation situation.
