DHAKA: Chhatra Dal, the student wing of BNP, called dawn-to-dusk hartal in 16 districts of Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions for Monday and for Sunday in greater Chittagong in protest against arrest of its president and Dhaka (north) unit senior vice-president.

Chittagong City Chhatra Dal President Siraj Ullah said the shutdown would be enforced on Sunday if their demand of releasing the arrested leaders is not met.

Rajshahi City unit Chhatra Dal president Mahfuzur Rahman Riton confirmed the matter about hartal on Saturday noon.

Besides, central Chhatra Dal Vice-President Mahfujun Nabi announced the daylong hartal in Rangpur division while addressing a rally around 1:30pm.
