SYLHET: At least 15 people were injured in a fierce clash between Islami Chhatra Shibir activists and police in Kadamtali area of the district on Monday morning during Jamaat called nationwide hartal.

Witnesses said the Shibir activists brought out a procession in Kadamtali area around 9:00am and locked into a clash when police tried to disperse them.

Shibir activists threw brickbats aiming the law enforcers and police opened fire to bring the situation under control, leaving 15 activists of Jamaat and Shibir and pedestrians injured.

Officer-in-Charge of Bimanbandar Thana Akter Hossain confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said: “Police nabbed 10 Shibir activists allegedly involved in the clash.”
