COMILLA: Three police men were beaten by Jamaat-Shibir men and nine others were injured during a clash with law enforcers near Haydarpul area at Chouddagram upazila under the district on Wednesday.

Local sources said police barred a procession of Jamaat-Shibir at around 9.45am in Haydarpul which triggered sporadic clashes.

While Jamaat-Shibir activists heaved brick-chips to law enforcers and beat three policemen severely, police also charged baton and fired at least 50 rounds of rubber bullets to control the situation, leaving nine others injured.

Chouddagram Thana Officer-in-Charge Uttam Kumer confirmed the matter to banglanews.

He said, “Among the injured, two police personnel got severe injury in head and they were admitted to Chouddagram upazila Health Complex.”
