CHITTAGONG: Blockaders hurled petrol bombs at a cattle-laden truck that burnt down seven cattle. The arson at truck spread out a nearby furniture shop that gutted some shops including a furniture godown.

The incident took place at 5:30am in Fauzderhat area under Sitakunda Upazila of the district.

Witnesses said miscreants blasted petrol bombs aiming to the truck and the truck hit nearby furniture shop that spread out the fire into several adjacent shops.

Some shops and a furniture godown burnt to ashes in the inferno.

On information, three fire fighting units rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control at around 7:00am after one and half an hour effort.

Chittagong Fire service assistant director Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter to banglanews.
